Website host change
My main website at anirudhsevugan.me may not be working for a few hours. This is completely normal, and you’ll see why.
I checked out several website hosting services, but Vercel seemed the best. It had the most performant CDNs, edge servers, and all compared to Netlify and GitHub Pages, which is why after a long time, I decided to make the switch.
The website is still on the same GitHub repository (don’t worry), and it should perform better for a lot of people.
CDN
A CDN is a Content Delivery Network. It is a network of various servers across the world hosting your website, instead of using just one server, meaning that access to your website will be much slower across the world. Pretty much every free host uses them: Vercel, Netlify, GitHub Pages, and all.
But GitHub Pages is powered by Fastly, but their CDN isn’t the best. Especially internationally, its performance wasn’t great, compared to Vercel, being in the green everywhere*. (comparison data found here).
And Vercel also offered DDoS mitigation, and more for free, without many limits. So I made the switch.
To access my main website, you may have to wait a while depending on where you live. Sorry about that! It can take 1 - 48 hours for everything to be finalized!
