The Custom Domain
Up until early May of this year, my website didn’t have its own domain name. Its domain name was for the free hosting service Github Pages.
My website’s domain was hard to remember, as it used to be a-star100.github.io. To try and fix this as a workaround, I used a personal organization I had created beforehand to make a new GitHub Pages site that redirected to the main one at anirudhsevugan.github.io.
I named my GitHub profile A-Star100 because I wanted my profile name to stand out, as the “A” Star, since my name started with the letter “a”. And since A-Star was unavailable, GitHub added “100” to the end and created my profile.
I had been thinking of a custom domain for quite a while. Thinking of how cool it would be. I had also been researching about domain registrars, to find the best that fit me.
I then found Cloudflare Registrar, which not only sold domains wholesale, but offered me other features and integrations of interest. So I made the decision, and paid the annual fee.
- Ever since, I’ve been quite satisfied with my purchase, and I hope you guys like the new domain!
